Detroit Bikes has teamed up with famed custom bike designer Ben Serotta to offer a $300 city bike that is claimed to be durable, lightweight, and easy to maintain. A limited first run is available to pre-order on Kickstarter now, with delivery expected in June.

Each Sparrow is assembled in Detroit—the aluminum frame is welded overseas—with parts that Detroit’s team deemed hassle-free and built to last. With a claimed weight of 22 pounds, it’s of the lightest bikes in its category (so says Detroit’s representatives). The Sparrow ships direct to the consumer and arrives 95 percent assembled with the tools required to finish the job—a five-minute job according to Detroit’s representatives.”
