Detroit, MI – July 15, 2016 –Detroit Bikes and The Detroit City Football Club have partnered to create a limited edition A-Type bicycle to celebrate the city’s rich history of both manufacturing and professional sports.
The new bikes are part of an annual tradition for Detroit Bikes and the Detroit City FC.
Each year the team presents a Detroit Bike to its MVP – a promotion inspired by the historic Chalmers Automobile Company.
In 1910, the Detroit automaker famously awarded cars to both, the Tigers’ Ty Cobb, and to Cleveland's Nap Lajoie for winning the batting title in 1910.
“I have a tremendous amount of respect for what Detroit Bikes has accomplished as a manufacturer in this city,“ said Sean Mann, co-owner of the Detroit City FC. “We love their bikes and feel that they represent the best of what’s happening in Detroit.”
Fan voting for the Detroit City FC MVP will happen at tonight’s game versus the Michigan Stars at Kenworth Stadium.
The individually numbered A-Types feature bold maroon and gold paint schemes and Detroit City FC decals.
They retail for $699 and are available at the Le Rouge Club Shop, at Detroit Bikes Dealers, and at detroitbikes.com.
